IPL Skin Rejuvenation Treatment

What is Skin Rejuvenation?

Skin rejuvenation is an umbrella term that applies to treatments that make the skin appear fresher brighter & younger in this instance Intense Pulsed Light Therapy.

In addition, skin rejuvenation treatments can also address skin damage that results from injury or trauma to the skin, as well as improve symptoms of some skin conditions such as acne & rosacea. Unlike other light therapies, particularly lasers, an IPL laser facial causes minimal damage to the skin and recovery takes just a few days making these treatments easy to build into a busy lifestyle!

Lastly, IPL stimulates collagen producing cells called fibroblasts. The increased collagen production helps to reduce wrinkles and treat scar tissue. These fibroblasts also contributes to the production of our natural hyaluronic acid & its this substance that keeps the skin hydrated and contributes to a youthful fresher appearance.

Acne

Acne is a common skin condition that is the bug bear of many, with many solutions on the market that over promise but under deliver. IPL can provide extremely effective relief from the symptoms of active acne. While the excessive production of sebum result in pores becoming blocked, it is actually the presence of bacteria on our skin that can result in inflamed infected & angry looking spots. When the bacteria responsible for acne proliferate, the results can be red and very sore & unsightly spots. IPL technology has been around for decades with technologies becoming even more advanced & effective as the years have passed.

IPL is incredibly effective at eliminating the bacteria present in skin, killing the activity within the spot or pustule whilst stimulating the body’s natural healing process by way of collagen formation, clears your skin quickly & effectively.

After consultation your laser specialist will apply a cooling gel to skin. The IPL technology will be placed onto skin to target the bacteria, eliminating them from the surface of the affected areas. The laser light gently heats up the surrounding tissue stimulating the skin’s natural healing process. This encourages the skin to repair the damage, the combination of this rids the skin of bacteria and heal the wound. Resulting in a much clearer complexion & more robust dermis, helping to protect the skin going forward. The advantage of this type of treatment is the speed with which it can be carried out, with treatments every week, resulting in much clearer skin within just a few weeks.

Pigmentation

Pigmentation or Pigmented scars are an excess production of melanin. Melanin is a pigment that gives skin its colour. Its produced by skin cells called Melanocytes. Several different conditions or external factors such as picking at spots, over exposure to sunlight or tanning beds can alter the production of melanin in your body resulting in unattractive dark patches. This treatment also has significant anti-aging benefits IPL laser therapy also stimulates your collagen & fibroblasts to plump your skin and results in softening fine lines. IPL technology has been around for decades with the technologies becoming even more advanced & effective as the years have passed. IPL is incredibly effective at eliminating the pigmentation present in skin, killing the over stimulated melanocyte activity, breaking down the dark patches & resulting in a beautifully even skin tone.

After Consultation a laser therapist will apply a cooling gel to skin. The IPL handpiece is then applied to skin specifically targeting the pigmented areas of the face. The light penetrates the facial tissues and is absorbed by the melanin chromophores (pigmented lesions). The body’s natural elimination process clears the lesion debris, breaking down the dark areas after just one treatment, giving the skin a clearer, smoother, more even, and youthful appearance. For moderate pigmentation results are generally achieved after 3 session, with more stubborn pigmentation taking between 6-8. Upon competition of treatment you will be placed under the LED Blue Light to further break down the pigmented areas & encourage healing of the skin.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a common skin disorder that presents as red inflamed looking areas on your skin and although it can be found in people of all ages, it does tend to occur more frequently on more mature skin. It can also be triggered from external factors such as environmental damage. Rosacea is usually apparent due to redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead, Small, visible blood vessels on the face, bumps, or pimples and sometimes watery or irritated eyes can all be signifiers of this condition.

Thankfully Rosacea can be controlled with IPL. IPL has two actions that help in Rosacea. Firstly, red thread veins absorb the light energy, this makes them hot. This controlled method of heat damage encourages the body to reabsorb them, thus improving the appearance. Secondly the light energy warms the collagen fibres in the skin this stimulates new collagen and collagen remodeling, this improves the support of the small blood vessels in the treatment area which helps to delay the development of further red thread veins.

IPL is very effective at treating other skin concerns such as –
Fine lines and wrinkles
Vascular lesions
Rough skin texture
Spider veins
Pores
Skin irregularities
Sun damage

***PLEASE NOTE THIS TREATMENT REQUIRES A PATCH TEST ONE WEEK PRIOR TO TREATMENT
