What is Acne?
Acne is a common skin condition that happens when pores become clogged. Sebum (oil) that helps keep skin from drying out—and dead skin cells & bacteria plug the pores, which leads to outbreaks of lesions commonly called pimples or zits.
IPL can provide extremely effective relief from the symptoms of active acne. While it is thought to be the excessive production of sebum that can result in pores becoming blocked, it is the presence of bacteria on the skin that can result in inflamed and infected spots.
We all have bacteria present on our skin, it is necessary to our health and wellbeing. When the bacteria responsible for acne proliferate, it can result can be red and very sore pustules.
IPL technology targets these bacteria, eliminating them from the surface of the affected areas. The light also gently heats up the surrounding tissue which stimulating the skin’s natural healing process. This encourages the skin to repair the damage caused by the lesions, so the whole process combined rids the skin of bacteria and heal the wound ( the spot). This results in a much clearer complexion and less chance or the spot re appearing as the new skin is more robust.
The advantage of this type of treatment is the speed with which it can be carried out, with treatments every week, resulting in much clearer skin within just a few weeks.
